Comprehensive Dentistry--Esthetic, Restorative & Preventive

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have my teeth cleaned the first visit?

We treat each and every patient as a unique person and we will tailor your visits with your needs and requests. Some will require several hours with our dental hygienist to get their mouth healthy. Others may need only a brief preventive appointment. State law requires us to perform a thorough examination and diagnosis before any treatment is started.

How long will my first visit take?

Most initial appointments take about an hour. We want to reserve enough time to get you know you, and for you to know us.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring your completed questionnaire and a list of your current medications. The name and phone number of your medical doctor may be helpful also. If you have dental insurance that you would like to be submitted, please bring that information with you.

Can my records from my previous dentist be sent?

Sure. You will need to contact them for authorization. We can help you with that.

Do you run on time?

We pride ourselves in it! Your time is very valuable to you and we respect that. Please come just a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork so that we have the full hour together.

Are you accepting new patients?

We are always looking forward to meeting friends and family of our current patients. Please be sure to mention how you heard about us, so that we can send a thank you. Unreferred new patients are welcome as well.

Do you take my insurance?

You are free to go to any dentist that you choose. While do not participate with any HMO or Managed Care plans, we are glad to assist you in sending in your claim for reimbursement. We have many, many patients that we have seen this way for years. Some plans try to steer you to a particular list of dental offices that can save the insurance company money. We have always have the philosophy that "you get what you pay for" and "you can't get something for nothing" so these schemes make me wonder what you might be missing. Please ask your benefits administrator for details and we can help you out here too.

Do you take Delta?

Delta Dental is an interesting company. The short answer is, "we used to." But, their practices became too restricting, they attempted to dictate a lower level of care  and we found that we could not afford to spend so much time on the phone with them. Some of their communications with patients was, shall we say, "questionable."

But the bottom line is this: You are welcome in our office as a Delta Dental subscriber. Since we are not contracted to them, our relationship remains (as it should be) with you and your family. We will still send in claims for you so that they can reimburse you for any payments. The check will be sent directly to you, the subscriber and any treatment decisions will be made entirely by you, as it should be.
